About Us

Ebony Peterson, LCSW

One of the most rewarding ventures a woman can go through is the journey to motherhood. As a mother of two, I have walked this path and understand the importance of mental healthcare during pregnancy and postpartum.

My name is Ebony Peterson and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder and owner of HER Wellness Circle.

I received my masters degree from Clark Atlanta University and have worked as a social work professional in a variety of settings serving children and families for over fourteen years.  I am a certified Perinatal Mental Health provider. Serving those who are struggling with postpartum depression, infertility, and women who have experienced birth trauma and pregnancy loss has become my specialty and passion. I enjoy empowering women of all sorts and encouraging families to wellness through a holistic approach.

My Story

I am a firm believer in preparedness. In my journey to motherhood, I read literature, hired a Doula, utilized a lactation consultant and took a birthing class. I chose an OB practice that was heavily supported by midwives and even had an individualized birth plan. However, none of these steps prepared me for what I experienced after I got home.

After the birth of my children, I experienced what is called postpartum depression and anxiety. I struggled with feelings of detachment from my children, guilt, isolation, paranoia and regularly had panic attacks. Like many others, I questioned my symptoms and reached out to my primary care doctor for help. However, I was dismissed and told “oh, that just the baby blues”. I silently suffered for months, lacking the support and knowledge needed to navigate postpartum hormonal changes and adjustment.
